Oh Taylor Swift...
Well, first of all I never really got into her music...it isn't angry enough for me, I'm more into Nirvana, and Radiohead, and Pearl Jam. So the article we read didn't really affect me either way accept to make me realize why I didn't like her that much. I agree with the author that Taylor Swift the person is really likable, but her music is pretty simple- not that simple is bad, just that it isn't for me. My favorite part about the article was the pictures!!!! I thought it was a really perfect way to demonstrate the author's points. The old adage "show don't tell" is true, who knew?! It was refreshing to have a visual element to enhance an essay. Overall, I thought it was a really well made piece of writing!!

First of all, I love Nirvana too!! And it's pretty interesting how useful those images were to the author's argument; without them her argument would be a lot weaker. I think that it was well-written too, and she really made clear the flaws of Taylor with her "list-like" format in her article. I hope we read more pieces like this!
ReplyDeleteI was amazed at the impact that the pictures had. They took her argument to a completely different level and really solidified a lot of what she was saying. The author really took time thinking about how she wanted to present her argument and did so in a way that brought a lot of depth to her writing. I also hope we read more pieces like this; it made for great class discussion!
